Fully qualified lawyers

The Gesellschaft für Freiheitsrechte eV (GFF) is a young, non-profit organization that advocates for fundamental and human rights with strategically planned, managed and communicated legal proceedings. GFF are looking for several for our office in Berlin as soon as possible.

Fully qualified lawyers

The positions are initially limited to May 31, 2023. The regular weekly working time is at least 30 hours and up to 40 hours. GFF aim for long-term employment.

Your tasks:

  • Independent, forward-thinking legal and strategic work, especially in the areas of freedom of expression, antitrust law, data protection, security law, freedom of information, media, IT and press law.
  • Assessment of the strategic importance and the chances of success of lawsuits and constitutional complaints.
  • Development and coordination of legal action and constitutional complaint procedures, in particular communication with complainants, partners and cooperating legal representatives.
  • Drafting and contributing to briefs.
  • Preparation and coordination of studies, reports, analyzes and strategy papers.
  • Support of the GFF in topic-related communication work (e.g. interviews, lectures, press releases, website).
  • Representation of the GFF to the public, parliaments, authorities and other organizations.

GFF also assume:

  • Pronounced interest in the creative participation of a young, growing NGO, also with regard to its work processes,
  • strong identification with the goals of the GFF.

The workplace is in the GFF office in Berlin-Mitte. A family-friendly working environment is important to us. Home work and flexible working hours are possible by arrangement.

  • GFF invite applicants, whose “paper form” particularly impresses us, to a personal interview, which is expected to take place on July 1st or 2nd in the afternoon virtually or in Berlin. The GFF is a young organization that is growing very dynamically. GFF are always happy to receive applications from trainee lawyers and interns . But even if you have already gained some professional experience, GFF look forward to hearing from you.

Legal trainees

Free places: from May 2022

Have you completed your first state examination in law, have above-average * legal skills and are you particularly interested in fundamental and human rights? Then apply for a legal or elective position with the Society for Freedom Rights. In a young, diverse and very motivated team, you will work in strategic litigation for civil liberties right from the start, giving you the chance to help shape this still very young field of law in Germany.

Interns in law

Free places from: November 2021

Are you studying law or a related subject and have not yet passed the first state examination? Do you already have a solid knowledge of German fundamental rights dogmatics and European law? Are you particularly interested in fundamental and human rights? Then GFF look forward to receiving your application for an internship at the Society for Freedom Rights. In a young, diverse and very motivated team, you will be involved in strategic litigation for civil liberties right from the start. GFF can pay you an internship allowance of 400 euros, and GFF can also provide you with a monthly pass for local public transport in Berlin. Please note,that an internship at the GFF should last at least two months due to our special field of work – unfortunately, GFF cannot offer shorter internships or internships for students.

Interns fundraising and communication

Free places from: October 2021

Are you studying journalism, communication or social sciences or a related subject towards the end of your studies? Do you already have solid knowledge of marketing, fundraising, press work or online communication / social media? Are you particularly interested in fundamental and human rights? Then GFF look forward to receiving your application for an internship at the Society for Freedom Rights. In a young, diverse and very motivated team, you will work on press and public relations work and support the administration and fundraising area. GFF can pay you an internship allowance of 400 euros, and GFF can also provide you with a monthly pass for local public transport in Berlin. Please note,that an internship at the GFF should last at least three months due to our special field of work – unfortunately, GFF cannot offer shorter internships or internships for students.

Student assistant communication

The Gesellschaft für Freiheitsrechte eV (GFF) is a young, non-profit organization that advocates for fundamental and human rights with strategically planned, managed and communicated legal proceedings. GFF are looking for someone for our office in Berlin as soon as possible

Student assistant communication

The position is initially limited to 12 months. The regular weekly working time is at least 9 hours (mini-job) and by arrangement up to 15 hours as a working student. GFF aim for long-term employment.

Your tasks:

  • They support public relations work with social media monitoring, creating newsletters and maintaining the website.
  • You maintain communication and press distribution lists.
  • You coordinate communication measures with our European and international partners.
  • You support the support of our sponsoring members administratively.

Voluntary Social Year Politics / Democracy

Your tasks:

  • Support with public relations (social media and website),
  • Support with press work (press monitoring and research),
  • Assistance in the development and implementation of events (e.g. research, briefings),
  • Help with event support and administration, preparing the event room, technical support (projectors, microphones, etc.), catering, issuing lists of participants,
  • Assistance in maintaining the contact database and looking after supporting members,
  • Assistance in expanding a database for license-free images and the photo pool,
  • Support of the legal team with case-related research tasks,
  • Preparation and follow-up of meetings (team, board, general meeting) and
  • Support with general work in our office.
