About Media Relations Director role

The ideal candidate is someone who has experience with journalists and journalism, either in public relations or as a journalist. They are excited about and will help them further their mission of protecting and promoting civil liberties, and ensuring that rights and freedoms are enhanced as our use of technology grows. They’re looking for someone with big and creative ideas about how to get EFF into the news cycle, whether they are launching a lawsuit or campaign or reacting to a big external-to-EFF event. They know what makes reporters and their editors and producers excited, and they are committed to prompt and exacting follow-through.

Hours of work: Exempt, Full-time (40 hours/week)

Salary: $130,000 to $150,0000 DOE

Expected hours of work: Typically Monday – Friday; some evenings and weekends from time to time

Reports to: Managing Director
Supervisory responsibilities: Supervises the Media Relations Specialist

Location: They prefer that this position be based in San Francisco. However, they will consider remote candidates who are exceptionally qualified.

About Senior Fellow – Decentralization role

EFF is seeking a Senior Fellow focused on decentralizing the Internet. This is a two-year fellowship with the potential to be extended for one to two additional years. The ideal candidate will act as a public advocate helping establish EFF as a leader in the civil liberties implications of decentralizing the Internet. You’ll help chart a course for EFF to have a big impact in the public conversations about decentralization of the Internet and how it fits into their mission of ensuring technology supports freedom, justice, and innovation for all people of the world. Through fierce public advocacy, blogging, and social media, this Fellow will help them create a future internet that is more decentralized, resilient and protective of civil liberties and innovation.

Classification: Exempt, Union, Full-time (40 hours/week)

Salary:  $95,000 to $110,000 DOE

Expected hours of work: Typically Monday – Friday; some evenings and weekends from time to time

Reports to: Director of Technology Projects
Supervisory responsibilities: None

Location: You may work from San Francisco or you may work from another U.S. location. This position will need to keep Pacific time zone hours.
