European Digital Rights is proud to announce that Maria Belén Luna Sanz has joined the Brussels office team as our new Campaigns Officer. Belén will focus on driving EDRi’s coalition building efforts around the networks’ flagship campaigns. In addition, she will be in charge of developing EDRi campaigns’ social media strategy and our campaigns’ websites development.
Belén is an experienced campaigner and coalition builder with a proven track record of generating tangible results to advance the cause of digital rights. Over the years, she has been involved with designing gender digital inclusion policies, building online advocacy platforms for women’s online safety, working in coalition campaigns for promoting women’s agency and safe abortion, and developing participatory strategies for political decision-making processes.
Belén is proud of co-founding the Network of Feminist Professionals (REDPROFEM), developing the first policy for girls and digital technology in Bolivia, and writing a book on gender data gaps. This three are the foundation of her passion for a fairer society in the digital age.
She holds a Master’s degree in Gender and Development from the Institute of Development Studies and a degree in Political Sciences. While she is an eager learner, she spends her free time fearlessly tweeting about politics, enjoying long hikes in the sun or reading thriller books on one sit.
