The EDRi network works tirelessly to defend fundamental rights in the digital age, to advocate for appropriate laws and policies, and to raise awareness of the key issues impacting digital rights

Our work
EDRi is the biggest European network defending rights and freedoms online. We work to to challenge private and state actors who abuse their power to control or manipulate the public. We do so by advocating for robust and enforced laws, informing and mobilising people, promoting a healthy and accountable technology market, and building a movement of organisations and individuals committed to digital rights and freedoms in a connected world.

Decolonising digital rights
European Digital Rights (EDRi) and its partner Digital Freedom Fund (DFF) initiated the decolonising digital rights initiative in 2020, which aims to design a process to develop a decolonising program for the digital rights field in Europe. By a decolonising process, we mean a process that acknowledges that oppression have their roots in a history of domination, exploitation, colonisation and are maintained by structural forces. Our goal is to challenge the structural causes of oppression to move towards a digital rights field in which all groups in society have their voices heard. EDRi also conducts work to promote digital rights for all . We work with DFF and directly with racial and social justice organisations/community groups and we lead advocacy work that reflect the specific digital rights impacts and needs of marginalised groups.
