Here’s a first draft schedule.
Sneak preview: One slot will focus on a “Civil society consultation on the modernisation of CoE Convention 108”:
The Council of Europe has been working on the modernisation of Convention 108 for over a year now. After a general public consultation carried out last year with a view to collect stakeholders’ views on what the modernisation should tackle, a first revised version of Convention 108 was discussed last December in Strasbourg by the Consultative Committee of Convention 108. Further to that first reading, a new draft has just been issued, to be once again discussed by all stakeholders. The Privacy camp is the ideal occasion to exchange views and ideas on the proposed text.
Marie Georges, independent expert contributing to the work of the Council of Europe will be presenting the modernisation exercise and proposals. Jorg Polakiewicz, Head of the Human Rights Policy and Development Department will answer your questions. Meryem Marzouki, (EDRi/IRIS) will be reporting the content of this consultation to the CPDP session of Friday 27 January at 2pm.
The current text of Convention 108 and the proposed changes are to be found here: http://www.coe.int/t/dghl/standardsetting/dataprotection/TPD_documents/T-PD-BUR_2012_01_EN.pdf
