The Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism is hiring for an Independent Advisory Committee (IAC) Secretariat

The Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT) envisions a world in which the technology sector marshals its collective creativity and capacity to render terrorists and violent extremists ineffective online. Acrossour work, GIFCT aims to be transparent, inclusive, and respectful of the fundamental and universal human rights that terrorists and violent extremists seek to undermine.

Responsibilities

  • Support the IAC Chair with scheduling, calendar management, and intra-IAC correspondence, including scheduling IAC meetings and Chair meetings with the Operating Board or GIFCT
  • Liaise with GIFCT Executive & Stakeholder Management Lead to arrange IAC engagement at GIFCT events
  • Take minutes of IAC meetings and support drafting of related documentation or briefings, in consultation with IAC Chair
  • Maintain up to date contact lists of IAC members and interested applicants, as needed
  • Support the responsibilities set forth in the IAC Terms of Reference
  • Support the communication of insights and advice in written form to GIFCT and the Operating Board on at least a quarterly basis.
  • Support the bi-annual IAC rotation process.
  • Support the conflicts of interest policy, updating as needed, and submitting proposals for changes for consideration by the Operating Board.
  • Ensure the Operating Board and the GIFCT Executive Director are informed of any changes to the IACs policies or procedures, including those related to membership criteria, member rotation, member conduct, and conflicts of interest.
  • Support the alignment of IAC insights and advice with GIFCT’s annual planning and event cycle, including working groups and annual summits or forums

Qualifications and Experience

  • BA or equivalent in international security, international affairs, political science, communications, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in administrative and professional support roles for senior executives and government officials focusing on policy issues
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining highly efficient administrative systems
  • Demonstrated commitment to meticulous attention to detail and handling of sensitive organizational information
  • Proactive customer-centric approach, adept at supporting stakeholders across different time zones, managing competing priorities, and navigating various sectors
  • Strong communications and organizational skills, ensuring effective collaboration and operational efficiency
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in UN working languages (Arabic, French, Russian, Spanish, Chinese) beneficial
  • Technology fluent; adept at using tools and platforms required for virtual and in-person events such as Slack, Zoom, Google Suite etc.
